Vinyl (PVC) is the fence most Cape Coral homeowners choose for a private back yard. We install 6-foot privacy panels, semi-privacy styles and 4-foot picket fences, set every post in concrete and file the city fence permit for you. A typical 6-foot vinyl privacy fence costs $35 to $55 a foot installed.
Why vinyl suits the Cape
A wood fence in Southwest Florida fights the climate every day: sun bleaches it, rain and sprinklers swell it, and termites look for the softest board. Vinyl ignores most of that. The color goes all the way through the material, so there is nothing to repaint, and a hose or a soft brush with mild soap takes off the green film that shady north-facing runs pick up in the wet season.
The city also requires wood fences to be painted or stained, which adds an upkeep job that vinyl simply doesn't have. For a family that wants privacy behind the lanai and doesn't want a weekend chore every few years, vinyl is usually the answer.
Styles we install
- Full privacy. Tongue-and-groove boards that lock together with no gaps, 6 feet tall. The standard for back yards between neighbors.
- Semi-privacy. Alternating or lattice-topped panels that let some breeze through while still blocking the view.
- Picket. Spaced pickets at 4 feet, used along side yards, around gardens or to close off an area without walling it in.
White is still the most common color, but tan, gray and wood-grain finishes are available. We bring samples to the estimate so you can hold them up against the stucco before you decide.
What makes a vinyl fence last here
Vinyl panels are hollow, which is why the installation matters more than the brand. Every post we set goes into concrete, sized to the height of the fence, and gate posts get an aluminum insert so a 4-foot gate doesn't twist the post over time. Bottom rails on longer panels get an aluminum stiffener so they don't sag in the heat.
Wind is the other test. A solid 6-foot fence takes the full force of a storm, so post spacing, depth and concrete are not where we cut corners. Where a run faces open water or a vacant lot across the street, we talk through whether a semi-privacy style would let some wind through.
Where a vinyl fence can go in Cape Coral
The city allows fences in the side and rear yards, up to 6 feet tall, but not forward of the front corner of the house nearest the fence. On a canal lot, the strip closest to the seawall has its own limit: the solid part of a fence can be no more than 3 feet tall there, and anything above that must be at least 75% open. A solid vinyl privacy fence usually stops short of that zone, and an open aluminum section finishes the run to the water. Our permit guide sets the rules out in full.
