A gate is the part of a fence that moves, so it's the part that wears. We build walk gates, double drive gates and wide boat or RV gates to match vinyl, aluminum, wood and chain link fences, add automatic openers, and repair gates that have started to sag, drag or stop latching.
Gates we build
- Walk gates, typically 4 to 5 feet wide, for people, mowers and wheelbarrows.
- Double drive gates, two leaves meeting in the middle, for cars and trailers; a drop rod holds one leaf shut.
- Boat and RV gates, wide openings so a boat on its trailer can reach the side yard. Width, post size and ground conditions vary so much that we price these on site.
- Pool gates, self-closing and self-latching, swinging away from the pool. See our pool fence page.
Why gates sag, and how we stop it
Almost every sagging gate comes down to the post. A gate hangs its whole weight off one side of one post, and the wind adds leverage every time it swings. In sandy ground, an under-sized post slowly leans, the gate drops, and the latch stops lining up. We set gate posts deeper and with more concrete than line posts, use heavier posts or metal inserts on vinyl, and add a diagonal brace or an anti-sag kit on wide wooden and vinyl gates.
Hardware matters too. Near the canals, plain steel hinges rust and bind within a season or two, so we fit stainless or coated hinges and latches sized for the gate's weight.
Gate repairs
Many gates can be saved: a leaning post reset in fresh concrete, a frame squared up and braced, new hinges, or a latch moved to line up again. A simple re-hang or adjustment usually costs $100 to $300. If the post has rotted or the frame is twisted beyond saving, we'll tell you and price a new gate next to the repair so you can compare.
Automatic gate openers
We can add a swing or slide opener to a drive gate so you can open it from the car. Openers need a solid gate, strong posts and a power supply, and adding one to an existing gate typically runs $2,500 to $5,000 depending on the motor and controls.
Gate prices
| Job | Typical price | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Walk gate | $300–$700 each | Single swing gate; vinyl and aluminum toward the top |
| Double drive gate | $700–$1,800 each | Two leaves, roughly 10 to 12 ft across, with a drop rod |
| Boat or RV gate | Quoted on site | Width, posts and ground decide it; no reliable published figure |
| Gate opener added to a gate | $2,500–$5,000 each | Motor, controls and wiring for a swing or slide gate |
| Gate re-hang or adjustment | $100–$300 per gate | Sagging or dragging gates squared up and re-latched |
About these prices: Gate prices depend heavily on width, material and hardware, so these 2026 Florida figures are estimates. Boat and RV gates in particular are priced after we see the opening. Your written quote lists every gate on its own line.
