What moves the price on a Cape Coral lot
Waterfront rules. Near the seawall the solid part of a fence stops at 3 feet and anything above must be at least 75% open, so canal lots often mix materials: vinyl along the sides, aluminum toward the water.
Corners and gates. Each corner, end and gate post needs more concrete and labor than a line post.
Old fence removal. Tearing out and hauling away an old fence typically adds $4 to $10 a foot.
Burrowing owls. If a burrow sits near the fence line, the layout has to keep a 10-foot buffer outside nesting season and 33 feet during it, which can change the route.
Easements. A fence in a drainage or utility easement must be in an approved material, and you carry the cost if it ever has to come out.
Access. Lanai cages, pool decks and tight side yards slow down digging and carrying.
Working out a rough budget
Pace or measure the fence line, multiply by the per-foot range for the material, then add each gate and the permit. A typical back yard of 150 feet in 6-foot vinyl with one walk gate lands somewhere around $5,700 to $9,100 with the permit. It's only a rough figure; the measure turns it into a real one.
Why quotes for the same fence disagree
Two quotes for "150 feet of white vinyl" can be thousands apart because they aren't quoting the same job. Ask each company: how deep are the posts set, and in how much concrete? Are the gate posts reinforced? Is removal of the old fence and haul-away included? Is the permit in the price, and who files it? Has anyone checked the waterfront zone or the easements on your survey? A cheap quote that leaves those out tends to cost more by the end.

Fence cost questions
How much does a 150-foot fence cost in Cape Coral?
At typical 2026 rates, 150 feet of 6-foot vinyl privacy fence works out around $5,250 to $8,250 before gates and the permit fee. The same run in 4-foot black aluminum is about $4,500 to $6,750, and in 4-foot galvanized chain link about $1,800 to $3,000.
Is the permit fee included in your price?
We list it as its own line. The City of Cape Coral's residential fence permit is $107 on the 2026 schedule, and the city notes a small state surcharge may be added.
Why do fence quotes in Cape Coral vary so much?
Quotes differ in post depth, hardware, whether old-fence removal and haul-away are included, whether the permit is in the price, and on canal lots whether the layout meets the waterfront rules. Compare what each quote includes, not just the per-foot figure.
Is a fence cheaper per foot on a long straight run?
Yes. Corners, ends and gates each need heavier posts and more labor, so a short run with several corners costs more per foot than a long straight line.
